Mathew has been with our Company since 2002 and is currently Director of RSV USA Consulting Incorporated.
Mathew joined RSV as Mechanical Engineer for the Anglo Platinum Amandelbult Expansion Project portfolio. He was subsequently transferred to the Impala Platinum No 16 Shaft Project in 2003 where he was later promoted to Lead Mechanical Engineer, Lead Project Engineer, Engineering Area Manager and ultimately held the position of Project Manager from 2005 to 2008.
In July 2008, Mathew was transferred to RSV USA Consulting Incorporated to take up the position of Engineering Manager for the Rio Tinto Resolution Copper Limited Underground Exploration Project. He was subsequently transferred to the Canada Branch (Vancouver) in 2011 for Rio Tinto's Mongolian based Oyu Tolgoi Project where he was responsible for the engineering and design work performed offshore for Shaft 4 and 5 and later for the Hugo North Optimisation Programme.
Mathew was made Director of the Company in July 2012 and is currently retained by Resolution Copper Limited as Principal Advisor Mechanical Engineering and Infrastructure Rio Tinto Projects, Growth & Innovation.
Mathew's career started at the Randfontein Estates Gold Mining Company on completion of his National Service in the South African Artillery in 1988, where he commenced service as a Learner Official. Following his first year, he was awarded a bursary to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand. Mathew was first appointed as Section Engineer in 1996 after obtaining the Government Certificate of Competency, responsible for shafts and surface infrastructure. He was subsequently promoted and transferred to HJ Joel Gold Mine in the Free State Gold Fields as Project Engineer for the Triple Decline Expansion Project and then to the Placer Dome Western Areas Joint Venture as Underground Project Engineer at the South Deep Project.
Mathew holds a B.Sc. Engineering (Mechanical) Degree from the University of the Witwatersrand and completed the Graduate Diploma in Engineering there as well. He is a Project Management Professional (PMP) issued by the Institute of Project Management (USA) and is a registered Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa and Arizona Board of Technical Registration in the USA. He also holds Professional Memberships with SAIMME and ASME.
