Emergency Power Supply Systems Project
Client: Anglo American Platinum via PowertechIST
Location: South Africa
Status: Completed October 2010
Anglo American Platinum required emergency stand-by generation in the event of a total Eskom power outage. EHL was involved in the project since its inception and was appointed as the electrical and instrumentation consulting engineers.
EHL's duties included the tie-in and commisioning of 21 containerised 3MW General Electric diesel generators rated at 11kV or 6.6kV depending on the plant system voltages. Generators were installed on nine different platinum mining sites. The total generator power installed and commissioned was 63MW.
