JJ began practising as an attorney in 1983 and was employed as Director at Glenrand Professional Services (Pty) Ltd and Glenrand Risk Management Services (Pty) Ltd in charge of the Legal Risk Management Services offered to the Professional Consultant Engineers insured through Glenrand MIB (now AON).

JJ has extensive experience in High Court and Magistrate Court Litigation, Insurance Law and, specifically, Professional Indemnity Insurance, Administration of Estates, Insolvency Law and construction legislation. In addition, JJ has experience in drafting Engineering -, Construction -, and related contracts with experience of the FIDIC, NEX, Impala Platinum Ltd, Anglo Platinum Management Services (Pty) Ltd and SASOL contract documentation for RSV Consulting Engineers and Project Managers in the mining industry. He also has experience in negotiating terms and conditions of professional consulting services contracts for major clients rendering services in Australia, USA, Mozambique, Botswana and Zambia.

JJ currently practices as Attorney and Conveyances (with 31 years of experience in the field), and renders legal and liability consulting services under the name of JJ Viljoen Attorneys.
